I was with IBM for over 30 years, was a former ISO Auditor, and then a private consultant for major corporations such as BCBS and Nortel. I am a certified trainer in Emotional Intelligence, Self-Mastery, and Leadership. I like to bring the theory of leadership and self-mastery, coupled with a balanced scorecard for business, which has allowed small and medium-sized service firms to be competitive in today's market. My partner Cheryl Leone and I reside together in North Carolina. Our home is the frequent site of many free “backyard consultations” with professionals who need to sit, dream, and talk. Together we have blended a strong family unit of four children, their spouses, and partners, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four grand-dogs, and one grand-cat. And there is, of course, Mr. Bojangles, their Sheltie. Our self-mastery course, which is regularly requested, is built on our personal beliefs that life is about vision and values.
Now for the behind the scene story. I started out in the Navy on board the H.J. Ellison (DD-864) and, after college, went with IBM. I was a member of the 120TH NY Civil War ReEnactment group and won a few competitions. We had uniform competitions and live fire with muskets and cannon. Together with Cheryl, we formed the Catalyst Group that consulted with law firms, and did public speaking on business management. Cheryl became the law firm whisperer, and I was the wise business leader. All of that slowed down some when I was diagnosed with a muscle disease. Today I walk a little slower, use a walker, sleep with a ventilator and still enjoy life.
